Ryan played in 108 games for the Engineers from 1985 – 89. At 6’3” and 225 lbs, he was a bruising defenseman. The Washington Capitols drafted him, and he played in the AHL, ECHL, and various European leagues for 12 years after graduation.
One season after his graduation, his younger brother Allen attended RPI and wore the same number, played the same position, and was about the same size with the same style of play.
